Many computer schools in the United States teach Information Technology (IT) and these numbers continue to rise as the demand for employees with such skills steadily increases. With so many educational institutes to pick from, it is difficult to decide on the computer school that is best. In the quest to find the top computer look at the following: the reputation of the establishment, the depth of computer courses, the breadth of courses, whether the state-of-the-art tech is available, the capability and engagement of the educators, and the percentage that graduate from the computer school. Usually the school's catalog, brochure, or website goes a long way in describing what the school has to offer. Being able to find course information easily doesn't solve the process of comparing schools as it's still a laborious process to organize all the different data into something that you can compare between schools. Ultimately you also have to take all that data and compare it to your own computer education goals. Thankfully there are businesses that have been producing yearly reports the many different schools and courses available. The US News and World Report is one such business. In 2006 it surveyed over 2000 schools and then created a report covering the many measurable areas that can be compared between each, such as the points mentioned above. Based on the 2006 data, Princeton University; Cornell University; Carnegie Mellon University; Rice University; University of Wisconsin-Madison; University of Pennsylvania; Harvard University; University of California-Los Angeles; University of Washington; Columbia University; the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign; Stanford University; the University of California, Berkeley; are some of the top computer schools in the USA in the IT field. There are some distance education computer schools as well that offer certification, associate, and bachelors degrees in computer technology. To name a few: DeVry University, ITT Technical Institute, and the University of Phoenix. These online schools provide training on such individualized fields as Computer Graphics, Computer Training, Computer Science, Web Development, and more.
